UP SEMen is a registered student organization based at the University of the Philippines College of Business Administration.

 

The New SEMen is Reborn

After 10 years in hibernation, the UP Society of Emancipated Men is back! The UP College of Business Administration has given its approval for UP SEMen to be one of the campus' accredited organizations. With an active alumni behind it, the UP SEmen will continue to be one of the most illustrious and talked about organizations at the State University.
UP SEMen was founded intially as the Society for the Emancipation of Men in 1968 by male students of the College of Business Administration who formed a fraternal bond to have a strong voice in a predominantly female studentry while promoting camarederie among business students.

Over the years, UP SEmen has produced luminaries in government and the private sector. The Philippines Senate President Manuel Villar , Jr. and Economic Planning Secretary Romulo Neri are charter members of the organization.

The UP SEMen is now open for membership. The current Secretary of the College Business of Admisitration, Dr Carlos Bautista (UP Semen 83) is the organization's adviser.

Senator Villar is now Senate President. As the13th Congress opened for its third regular session, Senator Manny Villar took his oath as the new Senate President of the country. Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, was nominated by outgoing Senate President Franklin Drilon, in recognition of the gentleman's agreement the two forged at the start of the 13th Congress in July 2004. Manny Villar is one of the founding members of UP SEMen.

 

The Golf Reunion Tournament. May 2006 marked the day of competition and reunion among SEMenites!Dubbed as the UP S.E.Men Golf Tournament, the day-long event featured more than 20 UP SEMenites and guests competing for the tournament title. Tees were off at around 10 in the morning and the players were more than excited to graze through the grass course, despite of the scorching heat of the sun. Read more>
